Local Natives do a Tiny Desk Concert

If you haven’t checked them out by now, take a gander at NPR’s All Songs Considered and their awesome Tiny Desk Concert series, wherein artists play behind Bob Boilen’s cramped desk without amplification or much in the way of electronics. Similarly, if you haven’t checked out Local Natives and their incredible 2010 debut, Gorilla Manor I fully encourage you to do so. You can see the video of their Tiny Desk Concert here.

The benefit of the Tiny Desk series is that they an intimacy and closeness that you rarely get to see bands operate in. Essentially stripping the artists of anything to hide behind, whether it be special effects or grand performance, it draws the focus on the music and the artists’ internal expression of such. Local Natives on record and here are two very different types of bands. Their songs are more mellow, more focused, and noticeably calmer. It’s a compelling insight into a great band.
