Sister Crayon – I’m Still the Same Person

Sister Crayon is four-piece out of Sacramento. Their dark, trip-hop-inspired brand of electronic music is perfect for a late night or a cold winter alone. Their debut, Bellow is out February 22nd on Manimal Vinyl.

Vocalist Terra Lopez has a sweet, swooning voice that plays against the melancholy of the backing band. Her voice is the centerpoint of “I’m Still the Same Person,” a dark, moody song created out of backward samples and an easy drum loop–with bits of electronics thrown in for good measure–and Lopez’ heavenly swoons. Her voice is one to impress, but the overall sound of the band is what will undoubtedly have me coming back for more, most likely during a late, late night of studying.
