Blue Giant are a sort of alt-country supergroup out of Portland. Their self-titled debut is out and lead single “Blue Sunshine” is the easy standout.
There’s something to be said of a song that starts out stomping hard. The southern-rock influences are pretty heavy on this track and it ends up sounding like a rootsier Tom Petty with some harmonies thrown in. It’s one of those great straightforward tracks that you don’t really need to say a lot about. It stomps and swings for three minutes.
(You should check out some of their other songs before jumping for your wallet, as the rest of the songs don’t quite hit the same vibe “Blue Sunshine” does.)
